Pancake Breakfast
Sat., October 29th from 7:30 to 10:30 a.m.

Those of you who came to our Pancake Breakfast last year at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine will recall what fun it was. We had a great menu of hot cakes and sausages right off the griddle, orange juice, fresh fruit, plenty of hot coffee, and milk for the kids. After breakfast, most people went to investigate the bird life around the ponds, talked to friends, visited Audubon House, and browsed through the interesting collection of used books for sale.

This year, we have scheduled Bird Walks for you during the morning, before and after breakfast. Be sure to bring your binoculars! We'll also have several Scope Stations where you can get close up views of the birds out on the ponds.

We've been collecting books for the past 3 months and have a great assortment of used nature books just waiting for you to browse through at our Book Sale Tables. Get there early while the best book bargains are still available!

Stop by the Education table; they're planning a great exhibit showing some of the neat art projects our kids made at camp this summer; learn about opportunities for adult volunteers to help share a love of nature with school children; find out about our new education program which combines art with science here at the marsh, plus a host of other exciting education activities to investigate.

Be sure to stop by the Chapter Ambassadors' Table inside the Duck Club. We'll have lots of information there about our chapter and the many ways you can get involved. This also one of the places to get your raffle card stamped so that you'll be able to enter it in the drawing for a special prize.

Near the check-in table by Audubon House, Wild Birds Unlimited will have a table with bird seed, feeders, and other bird feeding items. They welcome questions about how or what to feed your birds, where to place your bird bath, what plants attract birds, what to do if the birds are not coming to your feeders, etc.

On the back porch of the Duck Club (building), Optics4Birding will be displaying some of their optics equipment for birders. This is a good opportunity for you to check out the latest in binoculars or scopes, and ask questions.

Don't forget to stop by Audubon House to see our taxidermy birds on display, browse through our gift shop & book store, and check out our newly reorganized reference library! Volunteers inside Audubon House will answer your questions about Sea and Sage, birds, conservation issues, education, etc.

An event of this nature doesn't run itself; we have to have a team of volunteers to help us. If you would like to help us with this event, we would really appreciate it. Helping with an event of this nature is lots of fun and we hope you will join us and be a part of the volunteers group. This is a great way to make new friends while also helping our chapter. A signup sheet for volunteers will be at Audubon House, at our Sept. and Oct. general meetings, and here on our chapter webpage. For more information on the Pancake Breakfast, or to volunteer, contact Nancy Kenyon, 949-786-3160, .

We do hope you will join us on Saturday, Oct. 29th
and are looking forward to seeing you!
