Sea and Sage Audubon Society offers a variety of educational programs and opportunities for teachers, students, families, scouts and other interested groups. Through tours at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary in Irvine, special workshops, and educational materials for loan, Sea & Sage encourages everyone to experience the beauty and importance of birds and wetlands in Orange County. 1. Outdoor Adventures Program
This outdoor nature program at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary for 4th-5th-6th grade classes emphasizes observational skills and identification of bird and pond life using binoculars and microscopes. Program fee of $5.00 per student includes the two-hour “Bird Walk” and “Pond Study” activities led by trained naturalists, a teacher packet of classroom activities (including a wetlands poster, bird field guides, and a taxidermy bird specimen) to prepare the students for their visit, and a copy of our 28 page illustrated field guide Birds of San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary for each student. 2. Group Tours for Scouts & Community Groups
Scout troops and others will learn bird identification, bird migration and the importance of wetlands while observing wild birds and mounted bird specimens at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary. The program  includes a naturalist-led, one-hour tour of the trails and Audubon House, use of binoculars, and a copy of our 28 page illustrated field guide Birds of San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary for each participant. 3. Nature Day Camp Programs for Children in 2006
Our five-day Summer Nature Day Camps at the San Joaquin Wildlife Sanctuary help children of age 7 and over develop an appreciation for wetlands and wildlife through daily field walks, journal writing, and hands-on activities and crafts. Children explore all aspects of a bird's life in FLEDGLING CAMP, MARSH BIRD CAMP, ADVANCED BIRD CAMP, and WILDLIFE PHOTOGRAPHY CAMP.  For information on these camp programs, click here.

4. Marsh Education Programs for 2006
Throughout the year, we offer special workshops to increase people's awareness and understanding about nature. Past topics have included  Discovering Bats, Attracting Birds to Your Backyard, Wildflower Identification, Field Sketching, Feather Identification, Pond Life, Building Bird Houses, Local Butterflies, Days of the Wild Condor, etc.    Watch this webpage for a list of coming attractions.
