Information |
| Southern
California is home to more than 5 million people and as growth
continues, this large concentration strains the earth for natural
resources such as water and open wildlife habitat. |
| |
| Another side effect
of the massive urban growth is the effect on native wildlife.
This includes destruction of native habitats and resultant reverse
impact to animals, much of this is caused by humans. Major efforts
are being made to preserve what little wildlife habitat remains,
but there has been insufficient effort to care for wild animals
that are sick, injured, or orphaned. Most wildlife care and
rehabilitation is done by volunteers in their own homes and
backyards. |
| |
| About
Us: |
| The Wetlands and
Widlfie Care Center of Orange County is a non-profit facility
established to provide care for these animals and to educate
the general public about wildife and their habitat. |
| |
| The center is a
non-government facility operated by the Huntington Beach Wetlands
Conservancy and the Alliance for Wildlife. It is staffed by
licensed veterinarians, and volunteers. |
| |
| Located at
21900 Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, California,
the Center is capable of caring for more than 500 animals at
one time. The public is invited to visit the information center
and non-releasable aninal section, and the view examples of
native vegetation located throughout the complex. The hospital
and rehabilitation areas are closed to the general public. Tours
may be arranged for wildlife care professionals and groups. |
