Hello
Everyone,
As of yesterday, David Pryor counted 7 WSP along the beach,
and about 80-100 CLT in stages of courting and pairing off,
but little time on the ground. As many of you know, they start
spending time on the ground in the Preserve prior to breeding/nesting.
We're getting close to a CLT season start. Also, there are
crows in the area, and we'll have to keep our eyes on them.
For those who are trained and have a shift, you may go ahead
and start your monitoring as of tomorrow, May 1.
New trainees will start after their training is complete and
they have signed up for a shift (some already have signed
up).
If you have any questions or want to select a shift after
your training, let me know.
Thanks to all of you for helping the Least Terns and Snowy
Plovers!

PS For those of you who are interested in the Snowy Plover
rearing we do at the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center, you
might be interested to know that we had 3 of our salvaged
eggs hatch on 5/27, so we now have 5 chicks and 6 eggs, all
salvaged by Peter Knapp. All chicks are doing very well and
we are hoping for more eggs to hatch in May.
