May 22 - HB Least Tern numbers report from Cyndie

Hi Everyone,
Here are the numbers for this week:
Date Total # of Nests Total Depredated  Nests Total Active Nests Total # of Eggs
5/22/09 266 4 262 455

Comments:
So far, so good! We have only lost a few nests to predation, and today we did not see any unusal activity in the Preserve. Many terns are still courting. One tern has nested in the "other" fenced-in front yard area, just a few feet from the nest markers that are still up from last year ... possibly the same bird? Also, we have one 3-egg nest inside the preserve, which we don't usually see at this location. Let's hope we see the numbers go up even more next week!

Have a great holiday weekend,
