Closure,Backpack, Data Sheet, etc. |

Hi,
A few things....
Beach Closure Due to High Bacteria
Yesterday, the beach at the Preserve was closed due to high
bacterial counts. There was only one SNPL there but there
were hundreds of Sanderlings. As this could make birds sick,
please be on the lookout for sick birds on the beach. They
need to be taken to The Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center
at PCH and Newland immediately. If you do not feel comfortable
taking the birds in or can't for some reason, please call
the Lifeguard # on your badge, a lifeguard will pick up the
sick birds and transport them to the wildlife center. |

Backpack
The backpack is now at the opened Magnolia parking entrance
kiosk. There are badges for those who needed them inside the
backpack. Also in the backpack are photos of invasive and
native plants so that you can identify the Devil's Thorn plants
and pull them out. |

Daily
Data Sheet
There are daily sheets in the backpack. However, David has
also provided us with one.
He would like the monitors to fill the electronic
form out and email it to him whenever possible. (A
link to the form is also posted at the bottom of the 2008
Least Tern Nesting Season page, along with a copy of the
monitors' schedule, the roster,
Predators and Problems,
and An Overview of Domoic Acid Poisoning.)
