Thanks
for the numbers. I counted 34 fledglings on the beach on
Monday. No bands seen. And, there were 13 crows inside the
main preserve. I didn't have your number with me and didn't
call at the time, but the thought was about the possibility
of crows learning to glean abandoned eggs at the end of
the season. I assume so, and now have at least 13 crows
to think aboout for the start of next season. I'd be interested
to see if you can tease out of your data the number of abandoned
eggs taken by crows and others. Overall, not too bad a season.

Comments:
Most
of the terns have left, so either Friday or next week,
we will clean up the Preserve. We will also determine
how many nests never hatched out (those that currently
still have eggs left in them), so we can have a more
accurate number of nests that actually produced young.
