of Season Recap |
| |
The
season is over, and we had a great BBQ and Awards Banquet.
The big winner this year........is the colony that we served
to protect.
The Birder of the Year................is Bob McElhiney, again!
The Rookie of the Year...............is Lauretta Kyle.
A great job and dedicated participation was provided by them
both, and both will be awarded a bird feeding station. Yeah!
|
| Special
recognitions and thanks went to: Cheryl Egger, Nancy Kenyon,
Peter Knapp, Vic Leipzig, and Luanne Murray. |
| The
season ended up with a third highest nest number of 454, although
we had problems with crow and kestrel predation. The season
was a bit later than most, but had a strong supply of food
for young and adults. Other colonies North and South did not
fare as well. The season's official numbers for the entire
state of California will be provided when available (~Dec-Jan).
Again, a hearty thanks to all that participated this year.
Certificates will be distributed in the mail for those meeting
minimum day criteria. |
| Feel
free to visit and monitor for snowy plovers any time of the
year. There have been a couple dozen lately, but I did not
see one this AM. |
Thanks
again, keep in touch.
