Least Tern & Snowy Plover Project

April 22 - Getting Started

Here we go! Year 4 of monitoring the preserve! The first pair of Least Terns arrived just as Earth Day activities were beginning at the preserve, on the morning of Sat. Apr. 19.

If you are a returning docent, please go ahead and begin monitoring the week of Monday, April 28. This is an important time to watch for predators as the terns are preparing for their breeding season and their numbers are low.

If you are not on the schedule and would like to help us this year, please let me know your preferred time and day.

NEW DOCENT TRAINING/ORIENTATIONS:
Friday, May 2nd, 9:00 a.m., or
Saturday, May 3rd, 9:00 a.m.

This is for all new docents - you must complete an orientation before you begin monitoring. These will be walk through orientations, on-site, at the Natural Preserve.

Please meet David Pryor at the parking lot next to the preserve (enter the State Beach at Magnolia and drive to the far South parking lot).

Please RSVP for the training day of your choice.

Returning docents do not need to go through the orientation again, but if you need a new badge, please let me know.
