June 26th - Watch out for the Peregrine Falcon!

This morning as I arrived at 9AM for my shift, I noticed a raptor over the colony. As I hurried down the path, I saw it swooping and then flying away with a chick. This occurred in the SW corner and it was far away from me but definitely a Peregrine Falcon. I called Wally Ross right away and he agreed from my description that it was a Peregrine. He plans on no action for the time being as it is late in the season. However he does want us to document the following info: sex, age, predation, behavior, etc. As of 11 when I left, it had not returned.
